If you win the morning, you win the day.
Lots of successful people wake up and start the day with a few habits (or, let’s call them morning rituals). Tim Ferris, known as the author of “The 4 Hour Workweek”, interviews extraordinary people about various topics and one of his standard questions is what the first 60 or 90 minutes of their day looks like. Also, he has some morning routines himself! He describes 5 morning rituals on an ideal day. In reality, if he hits 3 out of 5 rituals, he won the morning. And if you win the morning, you win the day! He thinks this is the perfect way to think about mornings: it’s setting up your entire day for a positive momentum.
James Clear has a perfect explanation for why morning routines are a good thing to have to start your day (and we clearly support this as The Habit Company): you only have a certain amount of willpower in one day. If you have to start your day by thinking whether or not to shower, what you will have for breakfast, when you will get dressed,… Your jar of decisions is almost empty before you even go to work!
So try to find some morning rituals yourself! That way, you eliminate unnecessary or unproductive decisions that drain your energy early in the morning.
